MY HoLLYWOOD JOURNEY
After a customer-focused career in the Leisure and Hospitality sector, I joined Hollywood Bowl 18 months ago, as General Manager. My hours of work are completely flexible to the business and my own needs, so I can adjust my working week depending on where the demands are.
During my first few months I had an introduction to every area of the business, through various academies and development days, which enabled me to get a good grasp of each part of the business. It’s been invaluable.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT SO FAR?
I’ve really learnt to challenge my own skills. Hollywood Bowl has four different revenue streams and each one requires daily attention. I am continuously challenging myself to optimise each revenue stream by gaining more knowledge, trying new things, and developing my support team around me.
WHAT ARE THE BeST BITS OF YOUR JOB?
I love the versatility of my role; I’m given support to be able to drive the centre forward in any way I think right for Hollywood Bowl and Bristol. Whether that’s from doing outreach at local events, holding Quiet Sessions in centre for those that struggle with sensory overload, or hosting a Battle of the Businesses Bowling event – as long as I can show the forecasted return, then the ideas are always welcome.

The team at my centre are awesome and I thrive on seeing them develop their own personal journey. Not only that, but my fellow General Managers and the support team at Hemel are the best. They are there whenever I need them!
